“We have almost 50 stores in our extended family now, some of these still in the process of transforming into the Sunshine Kebabs model as we know it today. Additionally we have extended our reach internationally to South Korea, China, India, UK, Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia.
We have been so busy opening stores and dealing with the associated day-to-day affairs of such rapid expansion under the economic climate since the GFC that we have neglected to look at strategy and all the matters relevant to that strategy. The lack of strategy has had its impact on branding and design. The lack of a hard line branding and design guideline has meant that we have picked up one good element from one place and applied it, another from another place and applied it, shopping centers have dictated certain elements and rather then having a consistent theme throughout our stores designs, packaging and web elements it has been a Frankenstein kind of a creature put together with no real consistency. Whilst each element in its own right had qualities put together it didn’t portray a professional brand at the level our growing business deserved.
Whilst we are still keeping and not changing our identity altogether, major work is being done in every area to bring consistency to the brand in all areas of application. The stores, the packaging, the corporate identity, website and anything else that carries the name and logo of Sunshine Kebabs will all be regulated by the new brand guideline. There will be a consistent look and feel about anything Sunshine Kebabs.
We have introduced some new products and have been gradually rolling them out to all our stores. We would like to finalize this rollout. We have further growth earmarked for AU. We are ahead of track with our expansion plans for 2011, we anticipate reaching the 75 store mark by the end of 2012.” Murat Coskun, CEO, Sunshine Kebabs.

The famous recipe is originated in south-east Turkey where people loves to eat chillies and spices. The hundreds of years old traditional recipe makes the chicken succulently tasty as well as melt in your mouth. The chicken will be marinated for 24 hours and will come in hot or mild options and served with gourmet salad or chips. We are planning to price them as:
Flamed Grilled Chicken Steak with Salad $ 9.90
3 Flame Grilled Chicken Wings $ 4.95
5 Flame Grilled Chicken Wings $ 5.95

After launching its first international store in South Korea in early 2009, Sunshine Kebabs had secured Master Franchisees in the United Kingdom and Turkey. Sunshine Kebabs first started trading in Bundaberg, QLD many years ago as a family business. For a sector in the market that tends to be highly fragmented and often owner operated, they have managed to carve out a niche brand with a network of nearly 40 stores in Australia. They have also attracted the interest of overseas investors, Murat Coskun, General Manager of Sunshine Kebabs comments "They meet the crew, try the product and see the stores and before you know it they share the passion."
While the product is great and highly differentiated to the standard kebab, with its recipe, bread, salads and the method of preparation and display all of a gourmet standard, there are other points of difference including their made to order ethos and their personal approach in the way they do business with a focus on the win/win/win (franchisor/franchisee/consumer) formula that has made them successful. They have targeted China as having huge potential due it its culture of eating out and the emergence of other QSR chains over there. "Our projections are that Sunshine Kebabs Shanghai will outgrow our Australian business within 36 months. We went from 0-12 stores in 1 year in Korea, we strongly believe that Shanghai will not only match that growth rate but exceed it. We have the infrastructure, the team and most importantly the passion," comments Murat Coskun.

TERRY Ryan tucked into a kebab yesterday clearly rapt with what’s on offer at Rockhampton’s latest fast-food store.
After opening near McDonald’s on the city’s south side, Sunshine Kebabs is set to become one of Australia’s leading kebabs stores, franchise owner Murat Coskun said.
The Rockhampton store is the fast-growing franchise’s 34th. And there are plans to open another store next month at the Glenmore Shopping Village. Mr Coskun yesterday said the franchise also had shops in Korea and England- “Since opening last week we haven’t stopped,” Mr Coskun said. “It’s amazing. “Rockhampton has been on our radar and when this exceptional location came up we had to take it. “Eventually we will have a workforce of more than 25 in CQ incorporating our Gladstone store as well as a regional office and support centre.
“We now have 34 stores worldwide and are growing at a rapid pace.” He said the company’s foundation was built on maintaining a healthy approach to traditional Turkish kebabs and Mediterranean cuisine. “Part of the reason for our growth and success is that we offer carb-conscious low-fat options,” Mr Coskun said. He said the company had a unique and hygienic production method.
“One of our main points of difference is that we have a unique grilling process that we use after slicing the roasted meats off the spit which ensures not only a delicious product but an equally healthy one,” Mr Coskun said. “We have added healthy salad boxes to the new Rockhampton menu as well.” Sunshine Kebabs proudly boasts its use of 100% Australian beef, lamb and pure chicken fillets with fresh local produce.
